Choosing the Best Swimsuit to Hide Your Problem Areas

In their quest for modesty and comfort at the beach or poolside, women sometimes choose swimwear that calls attention to the very areas they are trying to hide.

For example, larger women sometimes go for a bathing skirt. Unfortunately, blousy skirts actually accentuate the hip area. These women would get a more flattering look from a suit that draws the eye up.

There are many creative ways that swimwear can attract attention higher on the woman’s body. It might be something as simple as where the designer has placed a design or pattern, or something more elegant like ruching detail (gathered fabric).

Even though black is typically more slimming, if colours and patterns are used deliberately they can a long way to making a bathing suit more flattering.

To draw attention away from the hips and lengthen the look of the legs, look for a strip of fabric in a contrasting colour right at the legline. This accentuates the leg line and slims down the leg.

Some women want to hide a lack of something rather than an excess of something. For example, a thin, athletic woman might go for a skirt to give a curvy effect and draw attention to the hips.

There are suits with tummy control that smooth everything out, though keep in mind that the bulk has to go somewhere. That being said, these suits do give you a bit of a lift and may help you feel more confident and empowered to be comfortable in your swimwear.

At Brabary we specialize in bathing suits and cover ups for all shapes and sizes - come in and check out our extensive selection.
